Inulin Powder
Inulin is a fructooligosaccharide derived from
Chicory roots and other natural sources of inulin. As a prebiotic, Inulin
stimulates the growth of beneficial and healthy intestinal bacteria which
supports good colon health. It also boosts calcium absorption. The body
does not digest, or breakdown, these fructose polymers and so the body does
not use the calories. They are simply passed through the system.
Since it also has a very low glycemic index, it is
suitable for many people who are on restricted diets. It tastes
similar to sugar and can be used as a sugar replacement. They can help
mask the unpleasant aftertastes often found with ingredients like soy,
whey
and high-intensity sweeteners. It is usually thought to be a bulking agent,
but it does supply the sweetness too.
Fructooligosaccharide (Oligofructose):
Fructooligosaccharide (FOS) is a soluble dietary fiber found in many common
plants, fruits, and vegetables. You may extract it from any of these sources,
but the most common source used in
supplements is derived from chicory roots,
due to its naturally high FOS concentration. This ingredient often used as an
artificial sweetener, because it is sweet to the taste, but the body cannot
use its calorie content. |
